Steven L. Cohen is a founding member of the firm.  Steven and Jennifer, his wife and law partner, have lived on Nantucket year-round since 2005 with their daughter, Sasha. He has practiced law full time in Nantucket since 2005, formerly at Reade, Gullicksen, Hanley, Gifford and Cohen LLP.  Steven graduated with honors from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1996 and with honors from the Tulane University School of Law in 1999.  From 1999 to 2001, Steven was an Attorney for the U.S. Department of Transportation.  In November 2001, he helped establish the new Transportation Security Administration and then served as Attorney-Advisor to the Secretary of Homeland Security.

In addition to his legal practice, Steven is the President of the Nantucket Bar Association and has served on the Board of the Nantucket Dreamland Foundation, Congregation Shirat Ha Yam, and the Nantucket Democratic Town Committee. He enjoys his spending time with his family and friends.  He also enjoys sailing, scuba diving, and recreational scalloping. Steven competes annually in the Nantucket Triathlon.

His practice is primarily real-estate transactions, land use planning and permitting, and small business matters. He regularly represents clients at the Historic District Commission, Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, Board of Selectmen, County Commissioners, Board of Health, Conservation Commission, Architectural Access Board, ABCC and other state and local regulatory agencies.
